
Mayor Michael Bloomberg kicked the issue of recent questionable arrests of gay men on prostitution charges to the NYPD.
In five 2008 visits to Blue Door between January 9 and February 19, four undercover officers and one named officer arrested ten men on prostitution charges. Citing those arrests, the special enforcement office sued on June 11 seeking to close the shop. At different times, two lawyers – Eileen H. Persky and Martin I. Nagel – worked on the suit.
