It's not the first naked chase... won't be the last
“This is the car that almost hit us,” said Alana Prazak, as she held up her cell phone. The Rockdale mom and her daughter were heading to College Station for a Sunday afternoon shopping trip. Prazak said her family was traveling on Highway 6 in north Brazos County, in the left lane, when she noticed a white cadillac passing her on the left.
“He was pushing us off the road, I mean he came within an inch of hitting us and so I jerked the car to move and that’s when we realized, oh, something is not right here and all the red and blue lights were coming behind us.”
Investigators had been chasing the driver, 31-year-old Ubaldo Olvera, of Palestine, off and on all day. Leon County Deputies said Olvera fled from them early Sunday morning when a 911 caller reported a naked man walking along the train tracks.
Deputies said hours later, Olvera stole a cadillac from Marquez, and headed down highway 79 to Robertson County, where a state trooper spotted him. The trooper followed for a while before calling off the chase because of slick roads.
DPS officers said Olvera continued into Brazos County, where Hearne officers and a Brazos County trooper continued the chase.
“At one point in the pursuit he was doing 120 miles per hour and passing vehicles on the shoulder,” said Trooper Tommy Lyons.
Miles down the road, the Brazos County trooper lost control, and wrecked near Business 6 and Highway 6. A few minutes later, Olvera made his way to College Station, and exited University where he lost control and slid into the ditch. However, he wasn’t finished running.
It was a dangerous day on the roads Sunday, as a naked Palestine man lead officers on a high speed chase through several Brazos Valley counties.

Prazak said her family was traveling on Highway 6 in north Brazos County, in the left lane, when she noticed a white cadillac passing her on the left.
“The southbound vehicles stopped going to help him thinking he had a wreck, then they realized he was naked and became frightened and that’s when officers apprehended him,” said College Station Police Sergeant Calder Lively.
By 3:40 p.m. Olvera was in a vehicle again, this time in the back seat.
“I hope they caught the guy, because he could have killed a lot of people out there the way he was driving, it was really scarey,” said Prazak.
Lyons said the DPS trooper involved in the accident did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
Leon County Deputies said they will charge Olvera with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. DPS has charged Olvera with driving while intoxicated and evading arrest. His bond was set at $2,000.
