Woman Must Wait For Sentence In Penis-Chopping Case

ISTANBUL, TURKEY – A Turkish court will wait to sentence a woman accused of chopping off her lover’s penis until it’s determined if the reattached member still works.

The court’s sentence could range from one to three years in prison if the man’s penis functions.

If not, she will be behind bars for at least eight years.

The woman defended herself by saying the man reneged on a promise to marry her, forced her into prostitution and beat her.

She told the court she cut off her lover’s penis while he was drunk.

Surgeons operated for eleven hours to reattach the organ.

They described the procedures as a success and predicted full function should return within six months.

The court will receive updates on the man’s condition until the woman is sentenced.
