Every Little Girl’s Dream: The Pole Dance Doll

It rotates. It has blinking lights, a disco ball, and a pole. And it's probably one of the wrongest toys you can give to any girl. Dollar bills and batteries not included.

ASIA – Tech blog Gizmodo posted a photo and blurb claiming the Pole Dance Doll is a real product, albeit one made in Asia for sale at off-price retailers. And while bloggers, parents and child development experts everywhere are aghast, I have to wonder why.

Isn’t this, after all, the logical extension of our popular culture? Reality TV has brought strippers into our living rooms so we can root for them to find true love, win lots of money or effectively punch out the stripper doing tequila shots next to them.

Miley Cyrus twirled around a stripper pole at the Teen Choice Awards, health clubs have declared pole dancing is the new fitness craze and at least one of Bravo’s Real Housewives claims to have one in her bedroom. Apparently, a girl who doesn’t know her way around a pole is at an extreme disadvantage in today’s society. A doll to give them a leg up could only help them in life.

Men who think strippers are fun can now buy their little girl the doll of their dreams. We no longer have to distinguish between whose dream is being fulfilled.
