Levine
Jack Levine admitted having one sexually explicit conversation with a patient in 2007 while he was running a program for people addicted to oxycontin, 10TV’s Cara Connelly reported.
During Wednesday’s proceedings, a transcript of a phone call conversation between Levine and the patient was read aloud by Assistant Attorney General Barbara Pfeiffer.
“Are you going to be my sex toy?” a man identified as Levine asks.
“Yeah,” the woman answered.
“You’ll do what I tell you to do?”
“Yes.”
Levine told the board that it was an out-of-character mistake that he lives with each and every day. He asked for leniency.
“I pray that the board will not judge my 25-year career in health care by my shameful words I uttered two years ago,” Levine said.
Despite the request, board members had harsh words for Levine when they were given a chance to speak.
Board member Dr. Marchelle Suppan said Levine made the patient less than human when he referred to her as a sex toy.
“People are human beings and women are not toys,” she said.
After hearing from all sides, the board voted to revoke Levine’s license.
“This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable for patient care,” said board member Dr. Anita Steinbergh. “I am sure he understands that.”
Levine can appeal the decision in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.
