Bathroom Voyeur Avoids Prison Sentence

WEST CORNWALL, UNITED KINGDOM – A voyeur who secretly filmed a naked woman in the shower and in her bedroom has escaped a prison sentence.

Paul Boase, 33, admitted hiding his mobile telephone to film the woman for his own sexual gratification.

The voyeuristic exploits of Boase, from Wheal Gerry in Camborne, West Cornwall, came to light when his wife became suspicious he was having an affair and found the videos on his mobile telephone.

Boase previously pleaded guilty to two counts of voyeurism and yesterday at Truro Magistrates Court he was given a 36-month supervision order.

He will have to sign the sex offenders’ register for five years and take part in the Thames Valley sex offender programme.

Prosecutor Jill Wilson told the court yesterday: “It was on November 8 when the defendant’s wife was looking through the defendant’s mobile phone when she found two videos of a woman in the shower naked and in the bedroom naked.”

The court heard previously Boase’s wife transferred the video from his phone on to her phone using Bluetooth technology and then confronted him.

Boase admitted there was no affair going on and that the woman knew nothing about the video.

Mrs Wilson said: “He was asked to leave the marital home. He was arrested only a few days afterwards on November 12 but it seems he had already destroyed his phone with the videos on it.

“He fully admitted the offences and that it was for his own gratification.”

The court heard that, during police interview, Boase insisted he had not passed the images to anyone else or put them on the Internet.

Chairman of the bench, Carolyn Rule, told Boase: “Obviously this is a very serious matter. This is a very serious situation but because of your early guilty plea and your obvious remorse we are going to give you a community order.”
