Ex-rugby player claims ‘people are trying to smear us’

But the World Cup winning scrumhalf is maintaining his innocence. He told The Times yesterday that he and his family were victims of people “out to destroy us”.
Yesterday Rapport reported the existence of a “sex tape” purportedly showing the Supersport presenter receiving oral sex from an unidentified dancer.
A picture showed a man bearing a striking resemblance to Van der Westhuizen sniffing white powder next to a near-naked woman.
Van der Westhuizen said yesterday afternoon that he had not seen the video film and was shown only a blurred photograph.
“But I can tell you it was definitely not me [in the video] and I’ve never done something like that,” he said.
Rapport said that the unnamed dancer filmed the act with a camera hidden in her handbag.
The video begins with her wearing a pink bra and g-string, performing oral sex on a man. She then leaves and returns with a tray of white powder, which both inhale.
Denying he was involved in the filmed encounter, Van der Westhuizen said: “I am in the process of getting legal advice but I am not surprised [at these allegations].”
He said that every time the couple appeared on the cover of a magazine, as on the current edition of women’s magazine Vrouekeur, a negative story reared its head.
“Every single time that we appear in the media, someone tries to smear us. Rapport claims the video was made eight months ago.
“I received a call in August in which someone said ‘Jou kak gaan nou begin’, so just work it out for yourself,” he said.
In 2006, the couple spoke of living in fear because a stalker was terrorising them and their two children, Jordan and Kylie.
“I am innocent in all this … if people want to make their own assumptions, they must,” he said.
He said that his marriage was strong and that Amor was standing by his side.

As a South African living in Europe I find the allegations questionable in the extreme.
If Joost is proven innocent the person/s involved should be severely punished both criminally and in the cash (if they have any) in their pockets. In a just society I would think that a prison sentence (the longer the better) would not be inappropriate.
Joost you have the support from ex-South Africans in Europe.
