Trial Date Set in Case of Abuse Over Sex with ‘Evil Spirits’

HAMILTON, OHIO – A trial date has been set for a southwest Ohio woman who police say hit an older woman to punish her for having sex with evil spirits.

Fifty-seven-year-old Abena Afrakomah of West Chester Twp. will head to court Dec. 8 to face a felony assault charge.

Middletown police say Afrakomah tried to punish a 74-year-old woman for whom she was caring by pinching her and twisting her arm.

The older woman, Josephine Crawford, can’t speak because of illness. But she said in written testimony for a preliminary hearing that Afrakomah accused her of being used by “evil spirits.”

A Butler County judge ordered a psychological evaluation of Afrakomah, who is from Ghana. She was found competent to stand trial and was released on bond.
