NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Look for Barbie’s new accessories to feature handcuffs and a whip.

Mattel will release a new Barbie doll in September that critics are calling S&M Barbie. The doll features fishnets, a leather jacket, long black boots and gloves.

The doll is modeled after DC Comics superheroine the Black Canary, according to the Barbie Web site.

A religious group, the Christian Voice, told British newspaper The Sun that the doll “is taking it too far.”

“A children’s doll in sexually suggestive clothing is irresponsible — it’s filth.”

Mattel has patterned Barbie after Catwoman and Wonder Woman before. Calls to the toymaker were not returned.
