Not long after the highly (and surprisingly) successful remake of Hairspray, MTV has decided to remake another musical — one that some might call one of the most popular cult classics of all time — The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Interestingly enough, for the remake, the original script will be used (shot-for-shot deal?), which was written by Richard O’Brien and Jim Sharman, who also directed the original film.
Also, Lou Adler, who was an executive producer on the original movie, will be returning for this one as well. No director or cast as of yet.
The remake may also include music not featured in the original.
To some, this may be the greatest news ever dropped from the heavens (who the hell are these people?). To most, it may be birthed from the bowels of hell.
Either way, here it comes.
The original 1975 film, which went on to be the most popular midnight movie of all time, starred Tim Curry in the lead role as the sweet transvestite Frank-N-Furter. Susan Sarandon, Barry Bostwick, and Meatloaf also starred, along with O’Brien, who played Riff Raff.
