Circus Alert: PETA Protesters in Phoenix

PHOENIX, ARIZONA – If you’ve read anything about recent PETA protests it’s this: girls get naked and hold signs. This was certainly the case in Australia when PETA protesters got together topless in a cage to protest Kentucky Fried Chicken. No matter how you feel about chicken, if you’re scratching your head and wondering what nudity has to do with chickens or animal cruelty, you’re not alone. In fact, you might even think that such displays are kind, generous, a great bright spot in your day.

“Hey, Jim, look at that naked lady.”
“Where?”
“She’s there–in that cage.”
“Let’s go say hello.”

Suddenly there are men crawling all over the protest cage stuffing in twenties asking for protester numbers, swearing off the Colonel for a date.

The purpose of nudity aside–the important thing for this story is that there will be another one. The PETA Media Center has just announced that there will be a protest on July 31, 2008, at 2 p.m.

According to the announcement:

Naked behind a banner that reads, “1 lb. of meat = 6 months of showers,” two PETA beauties will shower together in a busy Phoenix location to let consumers know that the best thing they can do for the environment is to go vegetarian.

Date: Thursday, July 31
Time: 2 p.m.
Place: Washington Street and Central Avenue, Phoenix
PETA Media Center

Why? Because the meat industry “wastes water and creates greenhouse gases,” of course! Stop wondering how many showers an acre of corn is… put your meat away and get going.
