LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM – A jury asked to watch a DVD featuring men and women having sex with animals walked out of the courtroom after just six minutes. Seven men and five women were asked to watch 90 minutes of the a DVD discovered in a warehouse in Peckham.
Some visibly squirmed and looked away at the first scene of two young women welcoming a dark brown Great Dane-type dog into a hair salon to perform sex acts on it.
After six minutes, a male juror rushed to the toilets in disgust – followed by the other 11. They returned to hand Judge Robert Prendergast a note which read: “We have all reached the same agreement after five to 10 minutes.We don’t wish to see the other 84 minutes.”
After a brief legal discussion between prosecution and defence barristers, the judge agreed to the jury’s request.
Zhong Li, 35, is accused of selling more than 100 animal porn DVDs from his Georgian home in Asylum Road but barrister Paul Walker denied they were obscene.
He said: “They have got to see the very real nature of these films – that they are so disgusting that they can’t deprave and corrupt.”
Titles of the seized films included Teeny Danish Dog Lover, Animal Action and My Horse and the jury was asked to judge if they were obscene.
Li denies conspiracy to publish an obscene article, conspiracy to supply unclassified video recordings,conspiracy to defraud and conspiracy to use a trademark without authorisation on or before June 2 this year.
The trial continues.
